A New Chapter: Reflecting on My Professional Journey

It's been just over a week since I began my garden leave after being laid off from my cherished, albeit demanding, role in marketing. This transition has offered me a unique opportunity to step back, reflect, and recharge after an incredibly busy few months that culminated in a yet another tradeshow on my last weekend.

During this time, I've prioritized rest and rejuvenation. I’ve also started collaborating with an exceptional outplacement coach to refine my job search strategy, an ongoing partnership that promises to provide invaluable moral and professional guidance.

I've taken care of essential tasks that had been postponed due to my hectic schedule, such as medical appointments and maintenance chores. Additionally, I've been planning a much-anticipated vacation with my children, which promises to be a delightful respite.

Despite the uncertainty, I remain optimistic and open to all possibilities that align with my personal and professional aspirations. This period has been an excellent chance to begin acquiring new skills through free online courses, an endeavor I intend to continue as long as I have free time, and to enjoy the summer, even if the weather isn't always cooperative.

Adjusting to a new setup with my private computer and accounts has been a necessary step, marking a clear transition from my former corporate environment. This setup ensures that I will be technologically available anywhere, including during my upcoming vacation in the South of France with my kids and mother.

On a personal note, my dog is thrilled to have me around more, and I am enjoying the extra time to share her love and companionship.

I'm grateful to be in the EU, where unemployment benefits provide a safety net, making this transition easier and less stressful. This support allows me the time and peace of mind to navigate my next steps thoughtfully.

Reflecting on this journey, I recognize the value of adaptability, continuous learning, and maintaining a positive outlook.
